Who We Are
Age-Friendly Mecklenburg is a community wide collective planning initiative of not-for-profit, higher education, faith-based, private, and governmental organizations along with community residents to improve the quality of life for older adults.
In partnership with AARP and the World Health Organization, Mecklenburg County was designated as an age-friendly community in June of 2021. Our efforts are guided by the 8 Domains of Livability Framework and the Age-Friendly Mecklenburg Action Plan.
What We Do
The Age-Friendly Mecklenburg initiative collaborates with community partners to identify a wide variety of opportunities! Our goal is to support and encourage our aging communities to remain active, informed, supported, and connected! This volunteer page identifies opportunities to support older adults, caregivers, and aging communities across various sectors!
