Volunteer: Scam Jam 2026

Volunteers needed for Mecklenburg County’s Adult Services Scam Jam, an event designed to help older adults and residents learn how to recognize, avoid, and report scams.

With speakers from the U.S. Department of Justice, North Carolina Department of Justice, North Carolina Department of Insurance, and the Social Security Administration, the event brings trusted experts together to strengthen community safety. Volunteers help create a welcoming, organized, and accessible experience for all attendees.

Jobs include but not limited to:

Greet and check in attendees as they arrive at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Center.

Guide participants to seating, speaker areas, and resource tables, assist with accessibility needs.

Monitor event spaces to ensure a safe, comfortable environment.

Assist with lunch distribution.

Help with setup and cleanup, including preparing registration tables, organizing handouts, and resetting the space after the event.

The Senior Citizens Nutrition Program (SCNP) facilitates the Mobile Market to provide fresh produce and grocery items directly to aging communities. Our operating hours are 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at various locations throughout Mecklenburg County.

Volunteers are needed to refill produce bins, distribute pantry supplies, and assist individuals as they shop. 

Stand for long periods of time Be comfortable working outside  Lift 10 pounds
