Volunteer: Stream Cleanup + Garden Maintenance @ Hidden Valley

Stream cleanups involve removing litter from the stream and surrounding areas to improve water quality and wildlife habitat! We will also help care for the Hidden Valley Ecological Sanctuary by removing invasive plants and mulching.

Parking: Street parking is available along Wellingford St. Please do not block any intersections or driveways. 

What to Bring: To limit single-use plastic, please bring a filled reusable water bottle. 

What to Wear: For stream cleanup, supplies such as hip waders and grabbers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will bring as many as we can. All volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags. All supplies needed for garden maintenance will be provided. Feel free to bring your own gloves and boots if you’d like! We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes and long pants to this event.

This event will involve cleaning up and caring for the Mint Hill Veterans Park rain garden by removing invasive plants and mulching! We'll teach you how to identify non native and invasive species and provide all the equipment needed for maintenance.

Volunteer: Earth Day Stream Cleanup and Storm Drain Marking

Stream cleanups involve removing litter from the stream and surrounding areas to improve water quality and wildlife habitat! Storm Drain Marking involves driving to a secondary location and gluing a small placard to the storm drain in the area. During Storm Drain Marking, we will be using as app called Quick Captures to log the drains we mark. You can choose which activity you'd like to participate in!

Parking: Parking is available in the parallel spots beside the greenway entrance or in the Target parking deck. l.You can meet staff at the check-in table in front of the Greenway entrance, right next to the Cook Out parking lot, to Check in and receive supplies and instructions.
