Volunteer: Storm Drain Marking

Storm Drain Marking involves walking and/or driving to a secondary location and gluing a small placard to the storm drains in the area. During Storm Drain Marking, we will be using an app called Quick Capture to log the drains we mark.

Parking: Parking is available at the listed address (Lake Wylie Baptist Church). You can meet staff at the check-in table near the entrance of the parking lot to check in and receive supplies and instructions.

What to Bring: To limit single-use plastic, please bring a filled reusable water bottle. We will provide all necessary supplies for Storm Drain Marking.


What to Wear: We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and clothes for warm/hot weather. We will also have sunscreen and bug spray for those who need it.

Volunteer: Mountain Island Lake Cleanup @ Neck Road

Volunteers will be removing litter around the boat ramp and the edge of the lake at the Neck Road Boat Ramp.

Parking: Parking is available around the boat ramp at the listed address. You can meet staff by the kayak launch near the boat ramp for registration and to receive supplies and instructions. 

What to Bring: To limit single-use plastic, please bring a filled reusable water bottle. Trash grabbers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will bring as many as we can.

What to Wear:  All volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags. Feel free to bring your own gloves if you’d like! We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes to this event.

Volunteer: Park, Stream & Street Cleanup @ Little Sugar Creek

This event is a TRIFECTA Cleanup in partnership with Keep Charlotte Beautiful and Park & Recreation! Volunteers will tackle Little Sugar Creek, the surrounding streets, and the park property along the stream by removing litter. You can decide which activity to focus on at the start of the event.

Parking: Street parking is available along Cullman Ave. You can meet staff at the check-in table in the grassy area near the listed address to register and receive supplies and instructions. Parking is limited at this location, so public transportation is encouraged if possible, or there is a paid parking lot across the street at 3400 Philemon Ave, Charlotte, NC 28206.

What to Bring: To limit single-use plastic, please bring a filled reusable water bottle. Supplies such as hip waders and grabbers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will bring as many as we can. All volunteers will be provided with gloves and trash bags. Feel free to bring your own gloves and boots if you’d like!

Volunteer: Invasive Plant Removal @ Clarke Creek

Invasive plant removal involves training volunteers on how to identify non-native and invasive plants in the area and removing those plants so that native species have a better chance on growing in along the stream buffer.  This event will involve walking along uneven terrain, along with shoveling and pulling. 

Parking: Street parking is available along Winmau Ln and Memory Ln.

What to Bring: To limit single-use plastic, please bring a filled reusable water bottle. Supplies such as pruners, loppers, shovels, and saws for invase removal will be provded by staff. We will also bring work gloves for each volunteer. You are welcoming to bring you own gloved if youd like. 

What to Wear: We recommend wearing closed-toed shoes and long pants to this event to protect legs and feet against sharp or prickly tree branches and poison ivy.
